Coming from a family of teachers I've always been passionate about education. I qualified as a primary school teacher in 2007 at The Institute of Education, University of London, and soon became very interested in the area of Special Educational Needs. In 2011 I completed the Open University course 'Difficulties in Literacy Development' and at the same time gained my AMBDA accreditation (Associate Membership of the British Dyslexia Association). This allows me to conduct specialist diagnostic assessments and make recommendations for exam access arrangements, as well as deliver specialist teaching programmes to learners with dyslexia.
I worked as a primary school teacher for nearly 10 years, which included being Literacy Coordinator, leading the school's phonics programme, assisting the SENCO and carrying out diagnostic assessments within school, as well as being a class teacher for a variety of age groups. I have also carried out specialist teaching for many dyslexic children, both within school and privately.
I am lucky enough to be a mum to three little ones and so now work on a freelance basis, concentrating on my specialist area of dyslexia. I am passionate about my children developing a lifelong love of reading. I live in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire, with my husband, children and a house full of books!
